Feel Purr-Full with PilatesAn exercise method that improves posture, strength, flexibility, mobility and awareness.

Today’s practice of contemporary Pilates takes Joseph Pilates’ powerful principles of what he originally called “Contrology” — concentration, centering, flow, breathing, precision and alignment — and adds modern knowledge of biomechanics, anatomy and somatics to create a method of conditioning worthy of a happy “meow.”

Under the watchful eye of the right qualified instructor, Pilates can help:

  • Correct muscle imbalances
  • Lengthen and strengthen muscle tone
  • Ease chronic back pain
  • Build bone strength
  • Combat the effects of joint hypermobility and lax ligaments
  • Improve posture
  • Improve your sport of choice (tennis, golf, etc.)
  • Reduce stress
  • Address pelvic floor issues
  • prevent injury and help post-rehab
  • Improve symptoms of fibromyalgia
  • Help reduce the pain of TMJ
The Pilates method can be done on the mat, but also uses a range of apparatus (Reformer, Cadillac, Chair and Barrels) to support as well as challenge the body through progressive resistance. When done on the mat, small props including foam rollers, spine correctors, stability balls and resistance bands are also used.
